The Dolphin People is an entirely gripping adventure yarn in the grand tradition of Robinson Crusoe, The Swiss Family Robinson and Lord of the Flies. Another unputdownable novel from Torsten Krol, master storyteller.

In 1946 a German woman and her two young sons arrive in Venezuela to begin a new life. Helga will marry her brother-in-law, a doctor, and the boys, Erich and Zeppi, will accept him as their stepfather. Together the family fly out to a distant jungle outpost where Klaus is to be the new medical officer, but en route their plane flies into a fierce tropical storm and crashes into a river in a remote region of Amazonas.
They are rescued by the Yayomi, a tribe of stone-age Indians, and welcomed into their way of life, having been mistaken for land-bound incarnations of freshwater dolphins. They are not alone among the natives: Gerhard Wentzler is an anthropologist who has been studying the tribe for years, and he enables them to make the adjustment to a different kind of existence. At first all goes well, the boys in particular adapting readily to Yayomi ways, but slowly and painfully Erich begins to realise that Klaus is not the noble figure he thought he was. And that’s when things start to go wrong…

About the Author/作者介绍: Torsten Krol is an Australian writer resident in Queensland. He is best known for his novels The Dolphin People (2006), a postmodern tale of two World War II-era German brothers lost in the South American jungle, and Callisto (2007), a satire on modern day American attitudes to terrorism, post-9/11.
2006年出版《The Dolphin People》《The Dolphin People》大受好評,英國Atlantic出版公司買下Torsten Krol作品的世界版權,於2007年出版《Callisto》,2008、2009出版The Dolphin People的Trade paperback與paperback。http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torsten_Krol
